professor at Iowa State University, Rob has been actively turning for more than 20
years. His work is sold in several
galleries and has won awards in several juried art exhibitions. Rob has also been a board member for the AAW, is a member of the
board of trustees for the Octagon center of the arts, and is president of the Ames Woodturners.

teaching style that makes learning fun, Rob introduces you to the specific characteristics of wood
samples. These characteristics are
subjected to an organized, logical set of questions using an identification key that narrows the
possibilities to the name of the wood sample. Both beginning and advanced turners will benefit from understanding the basics of
